Ruby
Bored Certified - Ruby - went to the bridge Tuesday night 30 Jan 2024, after fracturing her left rear tibia and fibula from what appears to be undiagnosed osteosarcoma. The fracture was a spiral compound that broke through both bones and skin. The x-rays were horrid to look at.

The pics are of her last photo alive and the very first full day that we got her.
She never raced, but was trained and tattooed. We think that her dominance and overbearing personality kept her from chasing the lure and instead trying to keep the other dogs in line.
She loved zoomies in the newly unearthed sand from our old pool. She was not much of a water dog, but loved snow and sand in her toes.
She had a thing with conversing with us loudly each day at 5pm for about 15 mins, howling and rooing. We called it the Ruby hour. Then, we would tell her to go get her drink and she would get up from her bed or down from the couch and go to her water bowl for a few laps of cool clean fresh water.
She wasn't much for toys, but loved to have something in her mouth. So, thank you to my sister for providing each Christmas a new baby, or wooby, for her to carry around the house. Yes, she had a large pick of toys and stuffies from our daycare and boarding business. But those weren't to her liking.
She did so well with all of the dogs that came to us through our daycare and boarding business. She would tolerate them for so long and then show a bit of teeth which would tell them that she wanted her space back. She would chase them in the yard and none were fast enough to stay away from her.
She loved car rides, but would seem to never want to lay down, unless we were in a constant movement. Once we turned or slowed down, she needed to get up and see what was going on. She went to Detroit, MI several times, Louisville, KY, Myrtle Beach, SC, and of course to my family in NJ.
She loved heading off to Dairy Queen for her pup cup and she loved to go to the school bus stop for our son. Home Depot and Tractor Supply stores were favorites of hers.
She was not a snuggler and you must not enter her space when she was laying down. But if you sat down in a chair or on the floor, she woujld step right over you and demand attention and pets.
We were just shy of her 9th gotcha day, 14 Feb. We got her just after her 2nd birthday 1 Nov 2012 and she made it to just beyond 11. She bounced between at least 2 other fosters before coming to us and allowing us to foster fail.
Our sugar face, frosty face, grey face, drama greyhound is no longer with us physically, but she'll forever live in our hearts and minds.
Run free, sweet girl. Daddy misses you so much. We all miss you and are devastated.
Fuck cancer.
